August 5th - Hiking On Whistler
On Top of the World

Starting early in the day and packed with lots of water and sunscreen we headed for the gondola to start our hike to the top of Whistler. The gondola drops you off at the RoundHouse, which is located at the 1600m mark. From there you start the hike up to the peak at 2400m. Doesn't sound like much but walking 1 km straight up really takes the wind out of you. Near the summit we noticed the effects of hypoxia where you would be completely out of breath like you were running a marathon but after stopping for 10 seconds or so you'd be fine. Although there is lots of snow it was really warm out and the sun was intense. I became lobster boy after I forgot to cover the backs of my legs.
