Day 3 saw us try to leave Dublin and start our trek around the country.
The plan was to pick up our car around noon from the dealer downtown and head
south over the Wicklow Mountains to Glendalough, the home of St. Kevin. From
there we would go to Kilkenny and tour around there. Well, the plan didn't go
as expected.
After picking up the car, we soon learned that there are very few street signs
(at least where we would expect street signs) in Dublin, and if you weren't born
in the neighbourhood you probably don't have a chance in hell of getting to
your destination without constant assistance. So after weaving our way south for six hours,
visiting Rathfarnham at least three separate times, hitting my mirror on a parked
car, and never getting within 100km of Glendalough, we found ourselves
in Wicklow Town. There we decided to cut our losses and find a B & B to stay in and
try again in the morning.
